GORE RAM FAIR.

The annual ram fair under the auspices of the Gore Agricultural ai»d Pastoral Association was held on the show grounds on Wednesday in cold and wet weather. There was a large attendance of farmers and breeders from' all parts of the district. The entry comprised 40 stud rams and over 800 flocks. The sale commenced witn stud rams. In .Romney Marsh some well bred animals Were offered, and the cemand was good, prices for shearling rams of good quality ranging from 20ens ‘o 40jgns, while others were quitted at from 9gns to 19gns. The best price, 40£gns, was realised for a shearling ram on behalf of tho well-known breeder, Mr W. G Ladbrook, of Gore, to Mr C. R. Keir’ Charlton. Thirty-seven guineas was paid by Messrs M'Kellar Bros.. Glenure Station, Balfour, for another of Mr Ladbrook’s shearling rams, while Messrs Gerrard and Sons,, Dipton, and Mr W. M'Donald, of Balfour, paid 35gns and 32gns respective! v for another two. _ One of Mr Ladbrook’s rams was passed in at 48gns. There was keen demand for flock Romneys, bidding -being brisk throughout, while competition was even keener towards the finish. Practically everything was cleared, good sorts rcaiWiug from Bgns to 18gns, while others made 7gns down to Signs. The top price, 13gns, was secured for four of Mr Ladbrook’s two-shear rams purchased by Mr A. D. Fimayson, Dipton. Other rams owned, by Mr Ladbrook made 14gns 144gn* and 14|gns. ”
