A remark that the shipment of cattle from Wanganui was practically a lost business brought quick contradiction at tho Harbour Board a meeting tho other night. Cat tain S. Holm expressed the opinion that 200 cattle per month, on an average, went south from Wanganui. Mr John Morrison endorsed this view. The subject under discussion was the state of facilities at the cattle wharf. The secretary reported that repairs had been effected. Part of the famous Overton estate at Marton was auctioned on July 14, and realised approximately £29 per acre. It was the first sale of any importance in the district lor four years.
