OTAGO HARBOUR BOARD.

An adiourned meeting of the Otago Harbour Board was held on Tuesday evening, the following members being presentMessrs J. Loudon (chairman), T Anderson. A. Cable, H. C. Campbell, J. M‘C Dickson. M.P, W. Gow, D. Larnaeh, J. E. MacManus, H. E. Moller. K. S. Ramsay, T. H. Russell, W Wilkinson, D F. H. Sharpe. Captain Coll M‘Donald. The meeting was held for the purpose of considering the proposed statement of wages and conditions for dredge hands, and the estimates for the current year. The proceedings were held in committee. With regard to the dredge hands, it was decided to approve the statement submitted, and consider it as “a gentlemen’s agreement.’’ With regard to the estimates the engineer’s department’s estimates were held over for a future meeting. The statements of estimated revenue and expenditure for the nine months ending September 30, 1926. the totals of which are as follows, were presented:— Revenue (nine months) £117,500 Expenditure for same period ... 111.550 Surplus £5.950 “It is needful to explain,” the statement continued, “that, under Section 4 of the Harbours Amendment Act, 1925. the board’s financial year will terminate on September 30, and not, as heretofore, December 31. consequently the figures submitted are for nine months only. Large amounts are allowed for roadways this vear. consequent on the adjustment of the main sewer ouestion. also for the strengthening of thp Frederick street sewer, in connection with the Dunedin-Ravensbourne railway division The total estimated expenditure under the old loan account is £22.423. and under the £350.000 *oa n scheme £33.000. It is to be noted that £3OOO of the expenditure is for the electrification of the docks. As all the Dock Loan moneys are exhausted, thi« amount is incorporated with the general loan expenditure.
