THE PRISONS’ BOARD.

WELLINGTON, March 12. The retirement from the judicial bench of the Rt. Hon. Sir Rcbert Stout, until recently chief justice, left vacant the position of chairman of the Prisons Board, which position must by Statute be held by a judge. The new chairman of tho Prisons Board ig the Hon. Mr Justice Stringer, who has been a judge of the Supreme Court since 1913. The Rt. lion. Sir Robert Stout will continue to he a member on the board over which as chief justice he so long presided. The following gentlemen have also been appointed members of the board: Sir George Fenwick, Dunedin; Mr William Reece, Christchurch; Mr Edwin Hall, Onehunga; and Sir Donald M’Gavin, Wellington.
