AFFORESTATION. HELPING DOMINION PUBLICITY. New Zealand has initiated many great causes, paramount amongst which is that of afforestation, which has now achieved its national status. The world's urgent need of soft w’oods has attracted the attention of the investing public towards scientific tree planting. The propaganda of the pioneer commercial afforestation enterprise is of great benefit to the Dominion from a publicity point of view in spreading information of value to the Dominion in a broad world sense. The enterprise of afforestation pioneers is conspicuous in many places, and, indeed, the motion picture sphere has been invaded with good results to everybody. Recently excellent films, similar to those of the Government Publicity Department, were released to enthusiastic audiences throughout the Dominion and in Australia. Expert cinema photographers were brought over from Australia, and leading scenario writers assisted in the promotion of some valuable contributions to motion picture photography. The power of the press has not been overlooked, and information on afforestation, which is worthy of the serious attention of everybody, has been carried into every household. It is evident that people should exercise thrift, and investments in afforestation companies, which are properly run, are really an inducement to safeguard the national resources of our country. Afforestation is an investment for ism as well as profit, and the pioneer afforestation companies deserve credit for the manner in which they have assumed an undertaking of Empire and national
