Counsel in the Auckland Supreme Court the other day made passing allusion to the tactics of some land vendors in “windowdressing” their properties—keeping the front paddocks green and the hedges trim, so as to make a favourable impression upon probable purchasers. “Something like certain kiuds of architecture,” suggested Mr Justice Herdman, “Elizabethan in front and Mary Ann behind.” A definite promise that he would introduce legislation for the registration of tobacconists was given by the Minister of Labour (the Hon. G. J. Anderson) to a deputation from the Cliristchuroh Hairdressers and Tobacconists' Association on Tuesday.
