“You have not been too happy in your bulletins for tourists,” said Mr John Babcock, of Victoria (British Columbia), chairman of the International Fisheries Commission, when speaking of the scenery of the Dominion to a Christchurch Star reporter. “The scenery is far beyond what is described in the advertisements. You should ge f out a little handbook that deals with the birds and trees, especially the trees, which, although limited, arc exceptional,” said Mr Babcock. “They say tho road to Hell is paved with good intentions,” said the magistrate at Invercargill. “Yes,” replied the witness seriously, “and the Waikawa road is very bad with potholes.”
