CHRISTCHURCH, February 20. Notwithstanding frequent protestations to the contrary, there has boen quite an amount of business in wheat, and at very good prices. A substantial Mid-Canterbury line was sold at 7s Id on trucks for Tuscan and 7s 6d for Pearl. Frequent sales have taken placa at 7s on trucks, in some Instances for distant North Canterbury deliveries. However, the prices mentioned aro not holding at the moment. The quotations of merchants in the absence of local millers buying are up to 7s, f.0.b., or 6s 9d on trucks, but farmer* are not accepting this figure.
Forward busiuess in oats is inclined to fee easier. Heavy grade Cartons have been sold at 4s Bd, f.0.b.. s.i., but at 4s BJd there are no buyers. On trucks values are to 4s lil. B Cartons are quoted at 4s 5d to 4# fid, f. 0.0., 5.1., or 3s 9d on trucks.
