The gum scale that infected encalypt plantations in the Wanganui and Rangitikei districts a few years back does not seem to be diminishing despite the introduction of ladybirds calculated to combat it. Previously healthy plantations are now leafless and bare, and very few gums appear to be well preserved and immune from the disease. This blight is present around Master ton.
