ACCOUNTANTS AND AUDITORS

ANNUAL MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. The twenty-seventh annual meeting of the New Zealand Accountants and Auditors’ Association was held on Thursday morning. Mr W. A. Ott, of Invereargili. presided, and the following members and delegates were present .—Mr R. H. A. Potter (Auckland), Thos. Forsyth, M.P. (Wellington), Hugh Daily (New Plymouth), A. G. Cannons (Christchurch, J. G. Patterson, G. M. M'Lean, T. H. Thompson, If. B. Burdekin (Dunedin), and J. M. Elliffe (Auckland), registrar. The President, in moving the adoption of the annual report add balance sheet, referred to the history of the association, which was founded in IS9B. The last annual meeting to be held in Dunedin was in 1907, and a number of the present delegates has attended this earlier gathering. The association had done very useful work in building up the profession of accountancy in New Zealand, and, although not now conducting examinations, was assisting the students in their work. The president congratulated Mr Thos. Forsyth, M.P.. a very old member of the association, on his election to the House of Representatives. He also congratulated Mr W. E. C. Reid, C.8.E., on the honour which had been conferred upon him. The balance sheet showed that the finances of the association were in a very sound position. The election of office-bearers for the ensuing year resulted ns follows President, Mr T. If. Thompson (Dunedin); vice-presi-dents —Messrs 11. F. 0. Twigden (Auckland), Thos. Forsyth, M.P. (Wellington), A. W. Bascnnd (Canterbury), G. M. M'Lcan (Otago), and R. A. Anderson (Southland). Votes of thanks and appreciation were passed to the retiring officers and to Messrs Henry Slmw and Geo. W. Hutchison for past services. The location of the next annual meeting was fixed at Auckland.
