THE FINAL STRUGGLES. In the fourth and fifth tests between Betty and Avalon, other provincial boats having been eliminated, the large crowds witnessed races of absorbing interest. Boats and crews were very evenly matched. Avalon won the fourth test by 48 seconds and Betty the fifth by 41 seconds, thus winning the coveted trophy for Canterbury.
