THE WELLINGTON MEAT EXPORT CO., LTD.
AN APOLOGY. Our attention has been drawn to the fact that in the descriptive note to the photograph in our issue of February 16 of the Ngahauranga Meat Export Works, belonging to the Wellington Meat Export Company (Limited), that company is described as insolvent. We had no justification for making such a statement, and regret that it should appear as though we had investigated the company’s affairs. We accept the directors’ statement that our description of the company as insolvent is wholly incorrect, and that it is in a position of being able not only to meet its obligations, but make a substantial return to its shareholders. We regret very much that the word “ insolvent ” was allowed to appear, and may explain that the photograph of the works published by us was sent by a North Island photographer of standing. The wording of the descriptive heading was his, and its import was unfortunately overlooked by us.
