A petition is now being- circulated, and will shortly be presented to Parliament, asking- that mining legislation be improved so that more encouragement- be given to the mining industry, it being contended that this dominion compares most unfavourably with other countries in regard to titles, rents, and assistance to prospectors (states the Auckland Star). It is pointed out that titles are unsound, and certain regulations too drastic \ also that English mining firms do not like our mining legislation, 0 and that North and South America, ('Hina, Malay States, and other countries give greater encouragement to mining investors. In consequence, very little development money finds % way into New Zealand. Hygiene and temperance alone May pass within its golden zone— In winter you the way assure When taking Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. —Adrt.
