An aerial battle royal between a kaka and seven seagulls was witnessed on the seaward side of the Terminus Hotel (says the Southland Times). Evidently th© native bird had been driven from its haunts by the rough weather, but its vigour was not at all impaired by its long journey. Its numerous opponents found they had encountered a real fighter and after a stirring contest they were obliged to retire with their colours lowered.
