WAR LOAN CERTIFICATES
PROPOSALS BY THE GOVERNMENT. WELLINGTON, July 16. Regarding the arrangement.s made by the Government to meet maturing Post office War Loan certificates, it H explained that the certificates '’.ore taken up in the early years of the war, and, commence to mature in August. The Acting Minister of Finance (Sir Francis Roll) suited that ihe Post Office would accept the war loan certificates on maturity nt iheT face value for investment, in subscribed stock or hearer bond at 6 I Pi- pent, interest, payable half-yearly, with 10 years’ emuenev to August. 1. 1931.- Insrrihed sto k will he issuer! in multiples of £lO with a minimum of £IOO, and hearer bonds for £59. £UO. £SOO. or £IOOO. as may he required. For those holders who desire to invest for a shorter term, or who are prepared to renew their certificates, tho Pun Office will exchange their present certificates on maturity for investment eertifii. V . with n currency of five or 10 years, bearing irttwesf at 51 percent, compounded annually. Holders who cannot renew may. if they wish, arrange by personal application at nnv postal money order offt e far tho proceeds of their war loan certificates to ho placed to their credit with the Post Office Savings Bank. “It is hoped.” slated Sir Francis Bell, “that holders of Post Office war loan certificates will, in view of the advantageous terms offered, leave as much money in the hands of tho Government as posiblc.”
