DEFENCE BY AIR C. MITCHELL, AI.P. APPRECIATION BY SIR FRANCIS BELL. 'A ELLINGTON, July 12. Not long ago there was published a pro- i test by Air G. Mitchell, AI.P., against the idea that Lie Alotiier Country, in the matter j of requisition prices of produce during the j war, profiteered at the expense of the do- 1 minions. The keynote of Air Mitchell’s ! utterance was how small is the Empire’s i debt to us, in comparison with our debt to j the Empire. In an appreciative letter to Air Mitchell, Sir Francis Bell (Actinig Prime A-Unisiei') writes: —"Let a New Zealander, born and bred, thank you for your line de- ! fence of the Mother Country’s dealings I with her dominions and dependencies. Eng- j land has been gracious beyond measure to ' us. Only the Governments of the dominions ! and colonies realise how patiently and con- j sulcrately the Imperial Government meets ; every request, how readily they allow us to j have the best of every bargain. T take off | my hat to the man who wrote that spirited j defence. I endorse every word of it, and whatever be your side in Parliament I am proud to be in the same Parliament with a man who can rise to the occasion as you have, and say far more eloquently than I could what should be made known to all our people, and realised by all our children.”
