Evidently honesty is not yet a lost virtue (states tho Mataura Ensign). On Friday last an old gentleman at Mataura lost a purse containing over £IOO. This was picked up by two ladies, and the name of the owner was inside the purse. 'The finders handed the p'urse and contents over to Constable Barrett. When seen by the latter tire owner stated that he had not missed the money, and the finders were well rewarded for their honesty.
