MR HUGHES IN LONDON.

LONDON, July 7. Mr Hughes has practically decided not to return via America. Probably he will accept Mr Sastri’s invitation to see the Indian Parliament working. lie expects to arrive in Australia during the first week in October. Lady Northeote presented Airs Hughes with a gold chain and an enamel and diamond pendant. Air Hughes conversed freely with the King, who has an extensive knowledge of Australian conditions and politics. The Queen is also interested in Australia’s Prime Minister. The King and Queen of the Belgians talked with Mr Hughes, King Albert saving : “Your country is very great and very new; mine is very small and very old, yet your people did wonderful things to help the Belgians. This we can never forget.” The Prince of Wales takes a personal interest in Australians. H.R.H. seeks out Mr Hughes at public functions and converges long and intimately with him.
