DUNEDIN WOOL SALES.

THIRD OF THE SERIES. KEEX DEMAND FOR, HALFBREDS AND FINE CROSSBREDS. Die third of the genes of Dunedin wool sales took place yesterday in the Art Gallery Rail. A good tone prevailed, and about 90 per cent, of the offerings were disposed of at auction. I.IST OF OFFERINGS. The details of the offerings are as follows : Wright, Stephenson, and Co. .„ ... 2,264 I )ulgety and Co. 1.770 Otago Farmers’ Co-operative 801 National Mortagage and'Agency Co. 1,700 D. Following is the range of values and also the prices ruling at the March and January sales:—

i no Dunenin Y\ ooiorokers’ Association reports on Tile sale as follows: — inerc was a fail attendance of buyers, and in comparison with previous sales the competition was spirited and the demand keen. ihe bulk of the wool was taken by overseas buyers, though a portion was secured by scourers for local works. ’.the feature of the sale was the strong inquiry for lialfbreds and fine crossbreds, thoagii merinos, of which a small quantity was on offer, came in tor keen competition from shippers. Local woollen mills were noticeably quiet and there was not the same representation of, or demand from, the mills experienced at previous sales. A considerable proportion of the offerings came horn the Oamaru district-, and consisted largely of medium haltbreds, and the really special feature of the sale was the keen demand for this class of wool. The prices realised for this wool exceeded the expectations of both vendors and brokers, and might be quoted fully 2d to tsd per lb above the bids for this grade at the March sale. In buyers’ opinion these wools fetched on an average quite id per lb above the Timaru sale held last Wednesday. Pieces came in for specially’ keen competition, and prices realised were appreciably above last sale for medium to good lilies. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having made the following sales:—Merinos: Nothing specially good, but three bales bright 60’s fetched 10.! d and other lots from 7Jd to 9|d. lialfbreds: Glendalough (Palmerston), from 7|fl to Biri ; Ahuriri Downs (Omarama), 7£d to bid ; Ldenbank (Central), 6|d to 9d; Duristan Peaks (North Otago), 7jd to 8i<l; Ribbonwood (North Otago), 63d to Tfd; Fisgah Downs (North Otago), 8d to 9|d ; 0.M./O.
