THE CHRISTCHURCH FIRE.
CHRISTCHI RCH, June 6. In connection with the fire in the fourstorey sample room building of Messrs J. M. lleywood and Co., carrying agents, in Manchester street, on Saturday, it is stated that the building was insured for £7400 in the Norwich Union office; and Heywood and Co.’s office fittings for £4OO, and general merchandise for £II.OOO (mostly on goods owned by clients) in the same office. The sum of £750 on the firm's stock and machinery was held by the New Zealand Company. Russell and C’o.'s (Auckland) rubber goods were covered by £I6OO in the Norwich Union office, and several other clients were insured for small sums. The Norwich Union held the highest risks on the premises and stock destroyed, totalling £11,800; the Queensland Company, £ll7O (reinsured £400); the New Zealand'Company. £4820; rhe Roval, £ 10 r fl; Victoria, £1600; and tlie Phoenix, £1550.
