VOTE AVAILABLE FOR RESEARCH. WELLINGTON. January 22. At the annual meeting of the Hoard of Governors of the New Zealand Institute, held to-day, Professor Easter field presided, and the Minister of Internal Affairs ai - tended the opening and gave a brief address. The Minister said that, the £2OOO voted for rose are]* had been available for a con siderable time. The idea was to work with the New Zealand Institute and Gawthron Institute, but nothing had been decided yet by Mr Parr and himself for recommendation to Cabinet. An investigation of primary and secondary industries should result in valuable increases in production and exports. They would look to thscientific bodies of New Zealand for assistance along those lines. I legislations were approved for the flamil ton "Memorial Prize in comnuunoration of the work of the Ia to Augustus Hamilton. The prize is a triennial one for the eneo-ur-ar'onent of heirinnors in scientific research. 'The TTecior Modal was awarded to Mr T\. FVpeight, for work in geology. The nx-rling then proceeded to transact, a quantity of detailed business preliminary to the meet in nr of the Science Congress at Palmerston North.
