REPATRIATION WORK.

EXPENDITURE DECREASING. WELLINGTON, January 17. Interesting figures in regard to the work of the Repatriation Department were given to a Po6t representative to-day by the Minister in charge of the department. “The expenditure on repatriation,” said the Minister, “reached its maximum in the month in which £120,000 was advanced to soldiers. Since then the expenditure has steadily decreased month by month, while the income from repayments of loans has increased steadily. It is anticipated that within the next three months the monthly income from repayments will about equal the monthly expenditure.” Mr Guthrie explained that 85 per cent of the expenditure was by way of loan. The total collection to the end of November (he said) was £376,542.
