LONDON, January 19. A Royal Commission has issued an award on the British South Africa Com puny's claim. The company claimed £7,866,000 under a Privy Council decision for administering the territory to the end of March, 1918. The commission finds that the amount- due is £4,435,000, without interest. CAPETOWN. January 20. The Administrator of Rhodesia has submitted to the Legislative Council a mem or andurn from tin Secretary of State for the Colonies (Lord Milner) stating that, while he appreciates tl-e desire for a responsible Government, he had arrived at the conclusion that the present Administration should continue till after the- next election in 1923. If the new Council is then in favour of a responsible Government the necessary steps will be taken to grant it not later than October, 1924.
