CANTERBURY CRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET.
(Lyttelton Times, January 15.) Merchants are still waiting for the new season s crops to be offered before making definite quotations, and the grain and produce markets keep dormant. ' Much interest is being taken in next Wednesdays conference between farmers and the Minister of Agriculture regarding prices for the wheat crop. There is little doing in oats, the crops of which are expected to he light, owing to the great heat and lack of rain. Potatoes have not yet come on the market, but individual quotations have been made at £4 at country stations. The grass seed crops are reported to be up to the average. Some seed has ripened prematurely, and is light, this having an effect on the prices offered. Parcels have changed hands at from 3s to 3s 6d, but most growers expect more. The following aro the nominal prices paid to farmers at country stations, free of commission, sacks extra, except where otherwise stated: Milling TV heat.—According to Government prices; Tuscan, 7s 6d. f.0.b.; Hunters, 7s 9d • Pearl, Bs.
