OUARRY-WORKER'S DISAPPEARACE.

AUCKLAND, January 11. A man named Samuel O’Brien, employed in a scoria pit at Mount Albert by Mr Cooley, a contractor, disappeared last Tuesday evening, and na • not been seen since. His behaviour for some time previously had been accounted rather strange, and on Tuesday last, at 1 o’clock, ho was seen running from a pit on tho further side of tho mountain to the Government pit, which lies towards the city. At 7 o’clock in the evening he was again seen running across some paddocks in tho direction of his home in Methven road, Avondale, and since then he has not been seen. Although both the Avondale and Mount Albert police have made a number of inquiries, their attempts to find any trace of the missing man have been in vain. O’Brieji is 54 years of age.
