WOMEN TEACHERS

WELLINGTON, December 31. At the Women Teachers’ Association Conference to-day a resolution was passed that infant departments be as liberally staffed as if they were separate schools. Delegates protested that by reason of the investigation system and the advantage bonus system teachers with dependents were really penalised.. Miss toad said it was a fact that, single men received the same bonus as married men, independent of iamily responsibilities. Why should a different principle be applied to women teachers? it was reported that the association is doing good work sweeping away the lines of demarcation in the various grades of the service. A remit “that in all new infant school buildings provision should bo made for assembly halls, separate cloakrooms, staff and luncheon rooms, and windows in keeping with modern ideas lor infant teaching,” was passed.
