FIRES.

TE KUITI, January 7. The biggest fire in To Kuiti for over six years occurred at 2 a.m., when a tenroomed boarding-house, owned and occupied by Mr J. Cowper, was burnt to the ground. The occupants escaped in their night attire. Nothing was saved AUCKLAND, January 7. A large two-storeyed house at Rernuera, owned and occupied by Mr P. A. Hadley, Was destroyed by fire last evening. The cause of the fire, which commenced in tho upper storey, is not known. The insurances on the property are over £2009. Mr Hadley is a heavy loser.
