TABLE TALK.

Saturday. Last Saturday morning an interesting ceremony took place in Trent avenue, when the Kelsey Yaralla Free Kindergarten School was formally opened by' the Hon. J. A. Honan, who was presented with a small gold key by Mr Hamilton, the builder. (Also one in duplicate was given to Mrs Robert Gilkison.) The company then adjourned indoors to_ the large hall, where Mr Hanan, in speaking, said it gave him great pleasure to join in the opening of this new free'kindergarten for Dunedin, and the immense help it meant to mankind in first helping and caring for the child. Mrs Gilkison, who was president when the new scheme was_ •started, occupied the chair. She gave a brief outline of the history of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association and of all the difficulties that had to be overcome; but the proof was before them in the fine building that the task had been accomplished with the recent help of donations, etc. Miss Kelsey spoke most feelingly about the new school and of the long wait of years they had gone through before the desire of her* heart had been fulfilled, and of ell the misery and wretchedness they had endured until their object had been attained. Mr Cohen proposed a vote of thanks to the Hon. J. A. Hanan in coming from Invercargill for the purpose of performing the opening ceremony of the new school.
