Tho Timoru Borough Council to-night passed tho following resolution, on the motion of the Mayor (Mr James Malinger " That this council, having regard to all tho circumstances of trie case, urges tho Government to grant a renr'ssioh of the sentences passed on Messrs Langley,' Eloqd, and Hunter, and would represent to tho Government that the council considers that the lav/, having demonstrated its power, will now be best served by tempering justice with mercy."
