LAUDER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The anniversary services of the Lauder Presbyterian charge were conducted on the 23th by tho Rev. W. P. Rankin, of Cromwell, who preached at Becks, Ophir, and Matakanui. The annual social was held at Becks on Monday, when, despite tne inclement weather, the church was crowded. The Rev. A. V. G. Chandler, minister of the parish, presided, and eloquent addresses were delivered by Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P., and Rev. W. P. Rankin. The financial statement "was presented by Mr W. '£. Wilson, the treasurer, who urged the people to a more liberal support of the church during the stress and strain of war. An excellent mlusical and elocutionary programme was taken part in by Misses Latta, Elliott, J. Clouston, and B. iiowjohn, Messrs Rankin and Chandler, and Lieutenant G. Swan, M.C. " Abundant refreshments were provided by the ladies of the congregation, arid an enjoyable social concluded with tho National Anthem and the Benediction.
