WAIKAI.

March 11.—We have experienced splendid woather during last week, enabling the farmers to harvest good crops of oats and wheat. Many are thrashing from the stook k Red Cross. —The annual meeting of the Red Cross' branch at Waikaia was held on the sth inst., in the Coronation Hall, Mrs Pinokney (president) being in the chair. Mr Wilkie (secretary) read the balance sheet and other papers referring to the work, and all proved most satisfactory. The election of officers for tho year resulted: Mrs Pinckney (re-elected as president), Mi's Handyside (vicepresident), Mr Wilkie (secretary) At the JDog Trials to be held on March 22 and 23 the ladies of the Red Cross branch are to have luncheon and afternoon tea served on behalf of the funds. Building.—The stores and residence next the Crown Hotel are being pulled down to build the flaxmill in place of the one which was burned down lately.
