NAPIER, March 11. At the Supreme Court Ridge Kelsey Stock, a taxi driver, was acquitted on the charge of manslaughter in causing the death of a female child named Mitchell by running over her in December last" when travelling at 20 miles an hour. The Chief Justice, in his address to the jury, commented on the number of children killed by motor cars in the district compared with the deaths in the course of sacrifices by ancient barbarians. CHRISTCHUROH, March 11. In the Supreme Court to-day Mr Justice Herdman heard an application for substituted service in the petition by two creditors of Mr M'Combs, MP., to have him adjudged a bankrupt. His Honor adjourned the application for 10 days to enable another effort to be made to secure service.
