It was decided to take no action regarding a sublease granted by the Wifo of Trooper G. E. Dickie over,section 148, etc., block 11, Leaniner Rock. Mr William M'Lachlan requested that tho licenso over section 7, block XIII, Rimu district, granted to Messrs M'Lachlan Bros, be issued, in his name only.—Approved.

DISPOSAL OF LAND. Mr Thomas Short applied for the right to graze for one month over section la, Waitahuna Settlement No. 2.—A grazing right for one month from the Ist inst. to bo granted for £5, the matter of an extension to bo left in the hands of the commissioner. Malvern Downs (Ltd.) applied for sections 17 and 18, block XIII, Tarras district.— The ranger reported that there was no objection to this application, and suggested that the rental be fixed at £5 per annum for a year-to-year license, with the right to cultivate. —Approved.

The ranger -suggested 5s per annum as the rental for section 3, block XXX, town of Lawrence, granted on grazing license at last meeting to Mr David Cochrane Agreed to. Mr John Serpless applied for a grazing license over allotment 2 (9 acres 2 roods 35 poles) of education reserve, section 1, block XLVIII, Tokomairiro district.—Yearly license to be granted at rental of £l. Mrs Alice H. M'Lay applied for a license to occupy a small area on the mining reserve between section 3, block 90, Town of Cromwell, and the Clutha River. — Yearly license granted at a rental of 3s. Mr Alfred Faithful applied lor a license to occupy the small piece of _ land on the mining reserve between section 3. block 89. Town of Cromwell, and the Clutha River.—Approved on a yearly basis at a. rental of 3s. Mr William Brown applied for a license over a small part of land on the mining reserve between section 1, block XO, town of Cromwell and the Clutha River.—Agreed to at a yearly rental of 3s. Mr W. G. Dungey applied for a license to occupy a small piece of land on the mining reserve between section 2, block XC, town of Cromwell, and the Clutha River. — Agreed to at a yearly rental of 2s 6d._ Mr Malcolm Ritchie applied for a license to occupy the area of land on the mining reserve between sections 6 and 7, block XCI, town of Cromwell, and the Clutha River.— Agreed to at a yearly rental of 4b. The Warden and the Ranger reported upon the application of the Central Otago Preserves to purchase an area of 11 acres of land in block VII, Leaning Rock district.— Application provisionally granted. The Warden and tho Ranger reported upon tho application of the Central Otago Preserves to purchase an estimated area of 127 acres of unsurveyed land in blocks VII and IX, Leaning Rock district.—Provisionally granted at a capital value of £1 per acre, subject to the Governor-General's approval. Mr George Asquith applied for an area of about five acres of land to the north-west of and adjoining section 6, block VII, Tiger Hill district, the area being fenced in with section 6.—Yearly license granted at a rental to be fixed by the ranger. Mr William Telford applied for a grazmg right for three months over 632 acres on Clifton Settlement, comprising section 7s, section 9s, part section 3s, and part section 4s.—Granted in terms of the application, the question of renewal to be left in the hands of the commissioner. Mr Simon Wright applied for a grazing right for two months over section 2s, Clifton Settlement, containing 288 acres.—Granted, the rental for the first month to be 8d per acre and for the second month 6d per acre. An application by Mr G. E. Cross to renew grazing over section 5, Clifton Settlement.—Granted, the rental for the first month to be lOd per acre and for tho second month 8d per acre. Mr John Coyie, applied for 100 acres, Kyeburn Run.—Declined, road access to be provided. • Mr Adrian H. Hawkes applied for 200 acres of land on Kyeburn Run.—Declined; a gravel and camping reserve of 20 acres to be provided in this locality. Mr Charles James Hanning, the holder of adjoining land, applied to select on renewable lease system, section 6, block X, Leaning Rock district (Earnscleugh Settlement), containing 12 acres 1 rood 27 poles Granted, subject to 'the Minister's consent, at a capital value of £7 10s per annum. Mr R. P. Galbreath applied for sections 7 and 10, block 11, Woodland, under Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act.—Granted a lease for 66 years at a capital value of 22s 6d per acre and a rental of 4 per cent, on the capital value, residence and improvements to be in keeping with the terms of '•The Land Act, 1908." Lower Wanaka, 5a 2r 16p,Christina M' Lennan. —Approved. It was decided that section 41, block VI, Benger district, containing 35a 2r lOp, be opened for selection at a capital value of 35s per acre, with £ls 12s 6d valuation for fencing. ~ The Undersecretary of Lands inquired whether it would not be possible to offer the Papakaio portion of the Waitaki Islands in two or three groups for five years under section 130 of " The Land Act, 1908," without fencing being necessary, and upon conditions providing for number of stock to be grazed, for agistment of adjoining settlers' stock at fixed" maximum rates, and for the prevention and destruction of noxious weeds and rabbits by the licensees.—lt was decided to reply that the board was of the opinion that' it had submitted to the department the best way of dealing with the islands in the interest of both the small and the Crown settlers. KENEWALS. The rent for renewed term of pastoral license over run 34, held by Thomas S. Elliott, was fixed at £l7 per annum. It was resolved to offer the education reserve lease expiring May 26, 1918, over section 16. block XXXV, Oamaru town (lessee, Mr H. P. S. Familton), at auction at an upset rental of £5 per annum, and burdened with £750, valuation for improvements. Mr R. Duncan, who had been given notice that his lease of section 15, block XIII, Moeraki, would not be renewed after May 13, applied for reconsideration and asked for a renewal. —Tho renewal was granted at a rental of £lO per annum. Messrs Reid Bros, applied for renewal of their lease of section 5 and part 6 (XII), Waipori, held on five years' license, which expires on February 12, 1918. —Granted, tho rental to bo fixed by the ranger. Mr J. R. Parker applied for renewal of his lease of 930 acres, sections 2 and 17 (VI), Waipori, part 6 (XII), 'Waipori, and 12 (XII), Maungatua.—Granted, the rental to be fixed by the ranger. MISCELLANEOUS. Tho Tuapeka County Council submitted proposals of expenditure of £122 lis 4d. being amounts of "thirds" and "fourths" accrued to credit of the county for tho period ended October 1. —Approved. Messrs Begg and Co. applied for a license to cut flax on Mount Albert station. Mr J. A. Murdoch, the pastoral licensee, wrote in connection with the matter. —A license was granted to Mr Murdoch .in terms of the proposal made by Messrs Begg and Co. Mr R. L. M'Bean, who applied to surrender his interest in section 34, Maerewhenua settlement, asked to bo allowed to withdraw tho request to surrender.— Granted, provided the rent was paid within 14 days. The rental of M.L. over 24 acres, block 11, Tiger Hill, held by Mr A". E. Pitches, was increased from 12s to 25s per annum. The rental of M.L. 1093. sections 21, 26. 27. Waikoikoi township, 6 acres 2 roods 7 poles, held by Mr J. Barr (rent 10s per ' annum), was increased to 20s per annum.

The rental of M.L. 1644 over section { (VIII), Nasoby, 23 acres 2 roods, 8 poles* held by Mr E. Dow (rent 5s per annum), was increased to 17s 6d per annum. With regard to sections 1 and 2, block IV, Tuapeka East (transferred at December meeting to Nora Ellen Hurring), Ranger O'Neill suggested that the rental should be increased from 2s to 3s per aero as from next yearly period or from January 11, ot £4 4s on 28 acres.—Agreed to. With regard to improvements on section* 91 and 100, block VIII, Leaning Rock, selected by Mr J. Q. Adamson, it was ro« Sol**d that the requirement* be the same a* those for a rural lease* under tho Land for Settlement Act _ ■ The improvements required) on lot 559, Benmore, selected by Mr James Glenn, were final, and are the same a* those provided for under section 215 of tho Land Act. 1908, Mr David Hall,- holder of grazing licons( of sections 2 and 58, block VI.
