HAMMER SPRINGS.

January 4. —Anothor enjoyable social was held in the Queen Mary Hospital on Thursday evening. There was a large crowd, and the items .'were well rendered. Songs were suns; by Miss Keatley, Miss Wylie, 'Miss Mailing, Corporal Dobson, and Corporal Ramage, and a recitation was given by Miss Mailing. There was a chorus by the lodge glee party, some humorous- stories by Mr Marks, and a pianoforte selection by Miss Halliday. The dance music was plaj-ed by Mass Munro «nd Messrs Mrairo (2; flute, cornet, and piano), Mrs Marks, and Miss JPNaughton. A basket-swinging competition Was won by Private Elliston. An excellent supper was provided. Weather. —The weather during the month of December was very changeable. Pain fell on 16 days, amounting to 10.44 in, the most on any ono day bains; 1.75 in, on the 11th. The terrestrial thermometer registered as low as 29deg on several mornings during the month.
