Iti the House of Representatives on the 17th Mr Isitfc asked tho i J rime Minister, in the absenoe of tho Minister of Defence, whether it was not a fact that, where three sons were taken from one family and only one boy was left, tho latter was immune from conscription. Mr Isitt said ho had brought one case of the kind before Sir James Allen's notice, and the Minister had at once granted tho boy immunity. Tho Prime Minister said tho matter rested with the Military Tribunal, but, in his opinion, if three sons were taken and one remained at homo, and lie was called up, a mistake would bo made by the Military Tribunal unless ho was exempted.—("Hear, hear.") Tho Rector of the Boys' High School reported to the meeting of the High Schools' Board of Governors on Monday afternoon that particulars had been obtained with regard to tho number of High School boys intending to engage in country work during tho summer holidays, in accordance with the suggestion of ths National Effioieney Board. The total number of such boys was 311. Of these 221 preferred to make arrangements themselves or through friends, and 90 desired to have situations found for them tmmigh tho National Efficiency Board. It
