PUBLICATIONS RECEIVED.

Tho Rev. James Milne, M.A., Thames, is still continuing his campaign in tho interests of State Control of tho Liquor Traffic, and has sent us a copy of a pamphlet bv tho Rt. Hon. Sir Thomas Whittaker, M.P., which ho lias caused to bo reprinted, with additions and is publishing at ono penny. Tho author deals with tho subject very exhaustively. Ho commences bv giving reasons why tho Stato should purchase and control tho drink trade. He then shows how it could bo done and tho conditions of purchase; then deals with tho method of control and shows how it would work out financially. In conclusion he meets and disposes of tho objections of some temperance people. Stato purchase and control ho contends would clear the way for giving tho peoplo wide powers of local option. Opposition to tho use of these powers would bo reduced, and all political parties would get rid of a very difficult, troublesome, and unpleasant problem.
