MILITARY SERVICE

BILL READY FOR PARLIAMENT. (From Ode Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, May 10. The Military Service Bill has reeaiyed it* final revision so far as the Cabinet is con* cerned, and is ready for introduction to Parliament. Tho main provisions of the Bill nro on the lines already indicated. Each district will be required to provide a certain quota of men, and the district will be responsible for carrying out that obligation. _ The measure does not aim at conscription in thei ordinary sense of tho term, but it is understood that the system proposed in the Bill is of a much simpler nature, and more adapted to present requirements. At the same time it is of a suffioiently drasfcia nature to ensure that tho required number of men will be forthcoming. The methods of compulsion devised will be aimed first at) singlo men without responsibilities, next at single men with responsibilities, and then through various degrees of married men.
