THE POLICE FORCE. (From Our Own Co-respondent.) WELLINGTON, May 14. It is understood that Commissioner Oullen will retire from the police force on superannuation at the find of tlv's year. The name of his successor ;t not yet stated, but it is suggested that it may be Inspector O'Donovan, now in charge oi the Wellington district, and lately of Dunedin.
There are over 10,000 species of insects known in Great Britain.
