MOSGIEL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The Presbyterian Church at Mosgiel was filled on the Ist by the congregation and other friends, who were in attendance to say farewell,to the Rev. James Aitken, who has ministered to their spiritual welfare for the past nine years, and who has accepted a call to Gisborne. The Rev. A. W. Kinmont presided and introduced the business of the evening'.

The Rev. James Lymburn (North Taieri), Rev. A. (bay (Ravensbourno), and Rev. W. A. Hamblett (Anglican minister at Mosgiel) spoke briefly, referring to the loss to the congregation by the departure of Mr Aitken, and wishing him success and happiness in his new sphere. The jnost important feature was the presentation of a ■■well-filled purse of sovereigns to the departing minister. Mr John Logan made the. presentation, and in doing so traced the progress of the church during Mr Aitken's. pastorate. He and Professor Bedford and Dr Waddell referred in eulogistic terms to Mr Aitken's good work amongst the people and to the esteem in which he is held. Mr Aitken suitably responded. Musical items served to vary the programme.
