MORNINGTON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
REV. W. TROTTER INDUCTED
A HEARTY WELCOME.
The Rov. W. Scorgie having been compelled to relinquish the charge of the Mornington Presbyterian Church after having laboured there for 17 years, the Rev. W. Trotter accepted a call to that church. Mr Trotter is a native of Aberdeen, and had about 10 years in the ministry in Scotland, partly in Glasgow and partly in the histono town of Bannockburn, before he came out to New Zealand. He arrived in this country in 1906, and was inducted to the parish of Epsom (Auckland), where he laboured for about seven years. For the last three years he has been stationed at Greymouth. Mrs Trotter is a native of Lausanne, in Switzerland, and is an accomplished linguist. The induction of Mr Trotter to the vacant charge took place in the church on the 2nd instant. The Rev. Andrew Gray (Moderator of the Presbytery) presided, and performed the ceremony of induction. There was a very large congregation present, including many members of the Presbytery. , After prayer, scripture reading, and tlio singing of hymns by the congregation, the Rev. F. Tucker preached from verse 4 of the 46th Psalm. The Moderator then explained the steps leading to the call to Mr Trotter. The moderator then put to Mr Trotter the customary questions connected with an induction, and after they had been answered satisfactorily he formally declared the minister inducted to his new parish. The Rev. J. Chisholm addressed the - new pastor, and the Rev. H B. Gray gave the charge to the congregation. The pronouncement of the benediction closed the service. x\ meeting of welcome in honour of Mr and Mrs Trotter was held in the church hall in the evening. The interim Moderator (the Rev. John Miller) presided, and the hall was packed.
