The two Riverton clubs, Aparima and Riverton, each sent teams to Orcpuki on Wednesday to meet the local players in the Western District rink contest. The visitors were hospitably entertained at dinner, and the ladies provided afternoon tea. The Orcpuki team met Riverton first, and after a keenly contested game won by a margin of 7 points. Five rinks wore played against Aparima, and here the Orcpuki players had an easy win, scoring 129 to Aparima's 67. So far the Orcpuki players lead in tho competition. The visitors wero loud in their praise of the Orcpuki Green and of tho hospitality extended to them. It was intended by the executive of the Dunedin Centre to play tho annual fixture with the South Otago Centre at Balclutha on Saturday, Ist inst.,but for various reasons a sufficient number of players could not make the trip, and the match has been postponed till Anniversary Day, March 23. The final of the Milton Club's championship competition was played on Wednesday evening between James Buchanan and John M. Brcck, the former winning by 19 points to 12. The scores were consistently level
until the fourteenth head, after which Buchanan gradually forged ahead. THE "ALL STRAIGHTS" IN 01" AGO CENTRAL. The annual visit to Central Grago of the All Straights," members of various clubs in and about Dunedin principally connected with the building and timber and ironmongcry _ trades, proved as successful as usual this season. Leaving Duuedin on Wednesday, the 30 bowlers comprising the team received a cordial welcome at Alexandra. On Thursday a match was played against the Alexandra Club, a olose contest resulting hi a win for the visitors by 10 points. Friday was devoted to a tournament on the Alexandra Green, which proved highly enjoyable. On -Saturday the visitors played against a Centre team comprising three rinks of Clyde players, two rinks from Alexandra, and one rink each from the Cromwell and Roxburgh Clubs. The Otago Central players had a majority in four out of the seven rinks, but in the aggregate the visitors won by 19 points. Conceits were held on Thursday and Friday evenings, tho proceeds going to tho patriotic funds. The visitors returned to Dunedin on Saturday evening, thoroughly delighted with their outing and loud in their praise of the splendid hospitality of the people of Alexandra, and especially tho ladies who provided afternoon tea on three days in succession.

It is realised that it is asking too much of the Alexandra players to entertain not only tho visitors from the city, but also the players from Cromwell, Clyde, and Roxburgh. It is believed, too, that a visit to the other clubs would give a fillip to the game, and result in probably increasing the membership of each club. It seems impracticable at present to include Naseby in the tour. If, however, a club can be formed at Ranfurly and a green prepared, Naseby and Ranfurly could be played en route for the interior. Ranfurly people would probably find a good bowling green a payable asset. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS. The final stage of the Champion of Champions bowling contest Was entered upon early on Saturday afternoon, at the ■ Dunedin Bowling Club's green, which was again in excellent running order. Ihe only two to meet in the sixth round were Cormack and Tonkin, Carswell receiving a bye. The former disposed of his opponent without much difficulty towards the end. The last head was not played, Tonkin being 5 down. The Caledonian player then met Carswell, end was again victorious, being 5 up with one head to go, when Carswell retired. Hogg ran right away from Buchanan afto'r the eleventh head. He added 4 at the thirteenth head, and 3 at tho sixteenth. Eighteen out of the 21 heads saw the game finished, Buchanan's chances then being hopeless. This left W. M. Hogg (Dunedin) and D. Cormack (Caledonian) to fight out the final, and the result of the game, which was watched with keen interest by a large number of persons, was that Cormaok proved the winner by 5 points, with one head unplayed. Up to half way the scoring was very even; indeed, at even the eighteenth end there was only one point between the two, Hogg just before adding 4 to his total when he was 5 down. Tho club champions, therefore, entered upon the nineteenth head on pretty even.terms, Cormack being one in advance of Hogg. Three to Cormack at the nineteenth head was a heavy knock for Hogg at this stage of tho game, and Cormack getting a single at the next end made it unnecessary to play the twenty-first end, Cormack being 5 up. Following are the scores : Sixth Round. D. Cormack 21 beat J. Tonkin 16. W. Carswell a bye. Semi-final. Cormack 18 beat Carswell 13. W. M. Hogg 20 beat D. Buchanan 8. Final. D. Cormack (Caledonian) 19 boat W. M. Hogg (Dunedin) 14.
