October 1. Dear “Pasqnin,”—Our Amateur Operatic Society concludes its season of “Los Cloches de Corneville” at the Grand Opera House to-morrow night. The performers made considerable improvement on the opening performance, but tho support received was not so good as on tho society’s previous appearance in public, when “Paul Jones” was staged.

Mr Frederic Shipman, who is doing record business with the Annette Kcllorrnan film.

‘‘Neptune's Daughter,” announces that he has arranged with that line singer, Paul Dufault. for another Australasian tour, commencing about the middle of next year. The members of the D. B. O'Connor Opera Company arrived from Sydney by the Manuka on Wednesday, and immediately left for Napier, where the Dominion tour opens with “The Girl in the Taxi.” On the trip across the members of the company assisted in a patriotic concert. By to-day’s boat to Sydney Mr John Fuller takes passage, also Mr Henry E. White, the theatre architect. The City Council has refused an application for permission to erect a picture theatre in Manners street, as the proposal did not comply with the building regulations.

Our Town Hal! is to bo provided with tipup seats in the gallery—and not before time. The council has decided to spend £2OO in alterations to the doors and exits, bringing the hall into lino with the licensee! playhouses.
