EIGHT-HOUR DEMONSTRATION

SYDNEY, October 4. Favoured by fine weather, the annual eight-hour demonstration, both as regards the numbers participating and the emblematic designs, w T as one of the finest ever witnesed. Interminsgled with the procession were the usual allegorical trade displays. Many had a bearing on the war, representing the part the workers are playing. One feature was the large number of uniformed soldiers marching in their respective unions, besides a strong company of the Expeditionary Force specially detailed to participate. The procession was two miles in length, and great crowds lined the route to the sports ground and gave the soldiers a splendid reception.
