The course was deep in dust, and, like the surrounding country, was badly in need ot ram. Scorch was first out, and Rongamua was badly left. At the first hurdle Dyana and Hinemanu fell heavily. Negative led Scorch, King’s Guard, and Sensitive past the stand. Sensitive ran off across the back, and Cyra and Prince Eddie sot out after the leaders. Scorch took the last fence ahead of the others, cantering home an easy winner by four or five lengths.
