WAIKOUAITI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
(From Odb Own Correspondent.) WAIKOUAITI, September 29. The monthly meeting of the Waikouaiti Borough Council was held on Monday ; present —the Mayor (Mr G. J. L. Kerr), Crs Allcook, Bell, Carson, Davis, Heckler, Maxwell, Rollins, Russell, and Smith. CORRESPONDENCE. The District Engineer of Railways wrote with reference to the proposed erection of special notice boards at level crossings, stating that the work of erection could be at onco proceeded with provided the council would forward a list of crossings, together with the distance from the railway at which it was desirable that the notices be erected. The clerk to reply that the council did not consider the notice boards necessary at present. The Clerk of the Waikouaiti County Council wrote with reference to a circular from the New Zealand Council of Agriculture, suggesting that a local committee of agricidl nro ho appointed.—Or George Maxwell was appointed as the borough representative. The Clerk of the Waikouaiti Domain Board wrote asking for an unusued concrete water trough which the board proposed to place on the Beach Reserve.—To be informed that the council had decided to retain the trough in the meantime. A number of applications for water services wore received, and referred to the Water Committee with power to act. GENERAL. Reports presented from the "Works Committee, Water Committee, and from the dayman were approved. It was decided to apply to the Waikouaiti Public Library Committee to have the lease of the Mount Durden Quarry cancelled. The bank pass book showed that the overdraft stood at £456 18s lid. Accounts amounting to £23 16s 3d were passed for payment.
