ARTILLERY DUELS. ALLIES’ FURTHER ADVANCES. PARIS, June 7. A communique states : There was an artillery duel of extreme intensity at Notre Dame de Lorette, Ablain, and Cabaret Rouge throughout Sunday and Monday. The enemy’s counter-attacks completely failed. We attacked the enemy’s position near Kebuturne and captured two lines along a 1200-metre front, taking several quickfirers and a number of prisoners. Violent counter-attacks north of the Aisne failed. We have maintained our gains of June 6. LONDON, June 7. A correspondent from the north of France states that the Germans have for days been bombarding the British lines. They seem to have an inexhaustible supply of shells, which they are expending with extraordinary lavishness. Twenty thousand shells have fallen upon Ypres in four days, and there is a similar prodigality of shelling on the Franco-Belgians southwards and northward of Dixmude, the Yser Canal, and the Artiso Plains.
