Americans in Germany have been warned officially that The relations Avitii the United States may be broken off in 48 hours, and they must be in readiness to leave the country. The newspapers, discussing the situa tian, declare that the threatened rupture would clear up the situation aa.l show who Germany’s real enem;es are.
HERR DELBRUCK'S STATEMENT. AMSTERDAM, June 6.
Herr Deibruck, in the Prussian Diet, said that the food question might be regarded as solved. There were even considerable reserves to be carried over into the coming harvest. The quantity of flour and potatoes would reach the normal peace consumption. The Krae Zeituug asSerts that Britain would be faced with starvation if it failed now.
The United States made a strange demand for the stoppage of submarine warfare. If reports of the reception of the German Note were to be relied upon, it appeared that America did not want an understanding, but preferred to break off relations and give at least its moral support to Britain. However comforting to Germany the retention of relations with Messrs Wilson and Bryan might be, their utility for her was somewhat imaginary.
