GAELIC SOCIETY.

Ihe Orchestral Hall. Rattray street, was crowded with members and friends of the above society at the monthly meeting on Tuesday, 2nd instant. The Chief (Mr Dugald M'Pherson) presided, and with him on the platform were Chieftain Roderick Mackenzie, Chieftain Kenneth Cameron, and Mr John Fraser (ex-Chief of the Highland Society of Southland). Among the audience were wellknown Highlanders, such as Mr Roderick M ! Kenzie (of Bushey Park), Mr M‘Lennan (of Dunback), and Mr Ross (of Palmerston). Addressing the meeting, the Chief extended a hearty Highland welcome to friends of {he society from the country. Ho also mentioned that it was the intention to have a roll of honour for members who bad gone to the front, which' would be on exhibition in that ball. The official piper (Mr Dan Matbeson) played the Chief and his partv to the platform, and Messrs Donald M'Arthur and John M'Lean assisted with the national music. The evening’s programme was : Gaelic song, “ Toirt M’aghaidhiri Diura,” Mr Dan Matbeson; song. Our Ain Folk, Miss Duncan; foursome Highland reel by Misses Martha Lockhart, Eileen King, Jean Riddle, and Niba Frame; songs, “The Song of the Emigrant” and " We’re a’ Yin Noo,” Mr J. D. Cameron; Highland reel, danced by the audience; song, “Angus M'Donald.” Miss Nance Duncan; Gaelic song, “Mo Dhacbaidh,” Miss M'Kechnie; dance, “ Seantreus,” Miss Loudon; Gaelic songs. “S’toil Lenin on Khiobair ” and “An T’Eilean Muilach,” Miss Mary M'Donald; sword dance, Mr Colin MTvenzie, jun.; song, “ Cornin’ Thro’ the Rye,” Miss Dunholmo; song, “The Highlandman’s Toast,” Mr D. M. Fca ; eongs, “Jock o’ Hazeldean ” and “Annie Laurie,” Miss Wilson; selections of pipe music, Mr Donald M‘Arthur: Gaelic song, “Mo Run Goal Dileas,” Mr M'Donald. Miss Davidson played the accompaniments. An hour’s dancing, under the direction of Messrs Alex. M'Kcnzie and Colin M'Kcnzie, succeeded the programme.
