WEIGHT-GUESSING COMPETITIONS. The bullock which was the subject in the open bullock-guessing competition wasweighed at Mr B. P. Lawrence’s in the presence of Mr T. T. Ritchie, the president of ~tho society, when the correct weight was found to be 1493i1b. The winner proved to bo A. C. Leary, Evan’s Flat, who guessed 14931 b, Miss E. Riordan, South Dunedin, taking second prize with a guess of 14951 n 0. S. Neville, Tinaaru (14911 b), J. C. Cra’gie, Dunedin (14911 b), and W. Green, South Dunedin (14961 b) divided the third and fourth prizes. The correct weight of the bullock in the ladies’ guessing competition was 149351 b, and this was guessed by Mrs W. 0. M'Kellar, who took the large sewing machine. Mrs R. M‘Arthur and Mrs Shcnnan tied for second place with guesses of 14941 b, and on a ballot being taken the former was awarded second place and the latter third place. A CORRECTION. Miss C. Kompshell, Maungatua, won the special prize for the most points in farmers’ butter classes 30 to 41, and not Mrs Moffet, as is stated in the prize-list. We endeavoured to secure an official correction before the prize-list went to press, but w r ere informed that the points had not been then counted.

WELLINGTON FARMERS’ BACON COMPANY.

A RECONSTRUCTION SCHEME. PAHIATUA, Juno 7.

A meeting of representatives of the dairy companies’ shareholders in the Wellington Farmers’, Bacon Company was held to-day to discuss the formation of a new company to take over tho business of the present Bacon Company, tho idea being for the dairy companies to take up shares in the now concern on the basis of tho annual output, similar to tho Bltham Company. Mr A. Eddie presided, and the meeting was addressed by Messrs H. D. Forsyth (managing director of the iSouth Taranaki Co-operativo Bacon Company) and J. C. Cooper (managing* director of tho Wellington Farmers’ Meat Company). It was resolved that a company bo formed for the purpose of acquiring tho existing bacon works at Waingawa, and that a committee of nine bo formed to draw up a prospectus and sub-

mit it to,the meeting of the dairy companies.
