THE QUEENSLAND ELECTIONS
BRISBANE, June 1
Mr Denham (ex-Premier), on leaving office, made a statement to the press. He said that one cause of the Liberal defeat was the attitude of the Public Service through not receiving increases owing to the war. Another cause was the unfounded utterances regarding the responsibility of the Liberals for the high cost of living. Two members had offered to resign their seats in his favour, but he had decided to at present stand out of Parliament.
The portfolios have not yet been allotted in the new 7 Labour Ministry.
June 2. The portfolios in the new Labour Cabinet have been allotted as follows :

The new Cabinet has decided to restore to the public servants the increases in their salaries, as from the beginning of the current financial year.
